How to disable or enable a service from startup in Ubuntu?


Scenario: How to disable unwanted services from ubuntu startup. Also how to enable any application service at ubuntu startup.

Solution:

a. Remove from startup.

$sudo update-rc.d -f mysql remove

b. Enable service in startup.

$sudo update-rc.d -f mysql defaults.

c. To list the service status

$sudo service --status-all
