Setting up proxy config in linux environment

Symptom: You need to fix the proxy config permanently in the ubuntu OS when ever you login.

Resolution: You need to edit the environment file available in $vim /etc/environment. An example where the environment file looks like

$ cat /etc/environment

PATH="/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games"
http_proxy="http://192.168.1.250:8080/"
ftp_proxy="ftp://192.168.1.250:8080/"
https_proxy="https://192.168.1.250:8080/"
